Message from the Director
We are pleased to welcome you to the website for the Office of Multicultural Student Programs and Services (MSPS). Our staff supports and advocates for students from traditionally underrepresented populations. We are here to assist the students we serve by helping them to thrive personally, socially, and academically at the College of Charleston.
We are passionate about our work and pride ourselves on being welcoming and inclusive to all students regardless of gender, race, age, ethnicity, physical disabilities, political orientation, sexual orientation, class, or religion. We are committed to promoting an environment where all feel welcomed, all feel respected, and all feel included.
With the resources we’ve been allocated, we will continue to provide diverse programming to include workshops, discussion forums, monthly cultural events, and other means of helping students make a connection to the College. Our staff recognizes and values the uniqueness of each individual. We will continue to collaborate with many campus areas as well as the local community to provide additional support and resources for students attending the College of Charleston.
Our office is located in the historic yellow house next door to the Sottile House. We are excited to offer a multi-faith space in our center to support and embrace the religious diversity needs of our students. We extend an open invitation to each of you to drop by-have a free cup of coffee, tea, or hot cocoa. Stay awhile to complete classroom assignments or research in our computer lab or the student group workroom in the Carriage House. Enjoy our conference or living room to relax in between classes or reserve the spaces for clubs and organization meetings. Last but not least, the Multicultural Center rooms are also available for use by faculty and staff.
