Tyler Person, Head LEADer

My name is Tyler Person, and I graduated from the College of Charleston in 2014 with Bachelors of Science Degrees in Mathematics and Historic Preservation. I am from Columbia, South Carolina, and my hobbies include singing, reading, playing sports, listening to music and watching crime shows like Bones and Law & Order. I am an aspiring architect, and this coming Fall I will be moving to Boston to acquire my Masters of Architecture Degree. I am thrilled that the Office of Multicultural Student Programs and Services has given me the opportunity to leave my mark on the success and structure of the SPECTRA Program, and I can’t wait to work with the incoming minority freshman class!


Jimmy Worthy, Co-Head LEADer

My name is Jimmy Worthy, and I am a graduating senior from the College of Charleston with a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education Teaching Education. Originating from Rock Hill, SC, my favorite thing to do in Charleston is to roam around on my skateboard and listen to music. Some hobbies of mine include the martial art styles of Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jutsu. Oddly enough, I love to be around kids; they are full of energy and their imaginations make them say some of the coolest things! I’d like to one day work with them!


Selena Bernard, LEADer

Hello, my name is Selena Bernard, an upcoming Senior at the College of Charleston. I'm from New York, majoring in International Studies with an Asian Concentration. An interesting fact would be that I speak Japanese, and I'm planning to study abroad in Japan!


Mignona (Mimi) Hall, LEADer

My name is Mignona [ Mē – Yä – Nä ] Hall, but since nobody can pronounce my name on the first try, I give them the luxury of calling me, Mimi. I am a rising junior from Greenville, SC majoring in Elementary Education. 


Julian Harrell, LEADer

Hello all, my name is Julian Harrell and I am from Georgetown, SC. I am a rising senior here at the College of Charleston majoring in Marketing with a Minor in Arts Management. As a SPECTRA Leader, it is my duty to aid upcoming minority students with a streamlined transition into college and life as young adults. Additionally, I plan to share my experiences here at the college whether positive or negative, in hopes of further inspiring others to not only start and finish their college careers on a strong note but to connect, adapt and grow. I am simply a young man still learning the ins and outs of the world we live in. 


Laura Micolta-Yepes, LEADer

My name is Laura Micolta, and I’m an International Business Major and International Studies Minor here at CofC. I’m a senior, and I am originally from Manizales, Colombia, but most recently came from Summerville, SC. I am looking forward to working with this group of LEADers and the SPECTRA students upon their arrival this summer!

My name is Tatyana Ponds, and I am an International Studies Major and French Minor here at the College of Charleston. A rising senior, I am from Spartanburg, SC. I have absolutely no idea what I’m going to be doing with my life yet!


Javier (Javi) Polo, Jr., LEADer

My name is Javier Polo Jr, and I am a rising sophomore here at the College of Charleston. I am double majoring in Mathematics and Secondary Education. I play rugby for The College and am starting a Hispanic Fraternity here on campus. Being energetic is what I am known best for!

Lorraine Russell, LEADer

My name is Lorraine Russell, and I am a rising senior majoring in Psychology and minoring in Biology. Born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, I am half Thai and half White. I am very empathetic to others and have a passion for education and helping people. I am also a recovering chronic tardy (being late a lot), but am getting much better about it now!

My name is Taylor Goodwin, and I am going to be a sophomore this coming Fall semester! I am majoring in elementary Education, and I am from Orangeburg, SC. My hobbies include reading and listening to music! I’m glad to be working with everyone over the summer and meeting the upcoming CofC minority freshmen class!
