What is the mentoring program?
The Multicultural Student Programs and Services Mentoring Matters program is based on a collaborative model that pairs "mentors", successful returning multicultural students, faculty and staff with freshmen and transfer students. It is designed so that the mentors have the opportunity to provide curricular and co-curricular support and share the skills they have developed with the newest members of our student body. Likewise, it is an opportunity for students of different backgrounds to learn from one another through shared experiences. Call or stop by the Office of Multicultural Student Programs and Services for more information. Our office is located in the yellow house on the corner of Pitt Street and Calhoun Street, next door to the Addlestone Library
The MSPS Mentoring Matters program is a mutually-beneficial opportunity. The direct mission of the MSPS Mentoring is to provide companionship through positive guidance with a support system towards relevant academic programming, extracurricular activities, and resources for multicultural students on campus in an effort to promote self-development and personal growth. Community leaders, College of Charleston faculty and staff, and the Multicultural family will work diligently to ensure that all mentor students receive any necessary assistance and advisement that will enhance their College experience.
